There is not long to go until our first gathering of CSDs from across the UK and I am really looking forward to meeting up with the great variety of agencies attending. It is seldom (if ever) that we find ourselves sat in a forum with others who do what we do, and this first session will give us the opportunity to explore and discuss issues that affect our community of professionals.
I think that in the digital sector client services in particular is under-represented, both in terms of it being a formalised profession and catered for in the same way as some of our colleagues in say creative, technical or project management. BIMA is keen to support our community by creating this forum for us to share our knowledge and ideas and this is a fantastic opportunity for us to shape something that will add value to us as professionals and the agencies that we represent moving forwards.
As someone who has spent 15 years ‘doing it’ in the digital sector one would imagine I am old (yes!) but also very passionate about the value that a CS professional can add, not only for the agency but also for the client. I believe that CS professionals play a critical role in ensuring that agencies are commercially healthy and built on long term sustainable flourishing client relationships.
There is so much that this entails in terms of the role itself and the skills and expertise required to fulfill this function admirably. There is also of course the need to have a business culture that recognizes the value of the discipline and knows how to integrate it effectively and in a commercially viable manner. I am sure that we will touch on these and many other interesting and challenging areas we commonly face during our breakfast discussions.
So thanks to all those who have already registered. The event is over-subscribed but we are currently running a waiting list if you would like to add your name to it. Also this is just the beginning so if you can’t join on the 13 May then please do register your interest and we will make sure that we keep you up to date with future activity.
