“Only by embracing a digital Britain and taking a lead in the global digital economy can we maintain our competitiveness as one of the world’s leading economic and industrial powers in years to come. I do think that the digital revolution lies at the heart of success for Britain in the years to come.” Gordon Brown, Friday 17 April 2009.
I could swear that Gordon Brown saw my tweet about there being a few places left for Tuesday’s BIMA dinner with James Bromley the MD of MailOnline talking about the future of digital publishing before delivering his killer speech today. Yes things are tough in digital but that said and putting politics aside for a second – who could disagree with Mr Brown’s statement that the digital revolution “lies at the heart” of Britain’s economic recovery?
Do a find and replace on “Britain” with “Publishing” and you’ve surely got what every Publisher worth his or her salt is thinking right now. There are so many other parallels I could go on for hours but I’ll leave that for Tuesday.
So I’ll finish where I started. There are still a few places left for dinner with James Bromley the MailOnline’s Managing Director next Tuesday evening. So if you want to engage in one of the most fascinating discussions around media shift with some of the biggest players in digital publishing click here.
