London Digital Week (LDW) today announced a raft of events that will form the inaugural week, which is taking place between 21st and 27th September. LDW will feature a wide range of events in the form of a week of conferences, workshops, meet-ups, presentations, networking, parties and exhibitions bringing together the digital-orientated industries. From the Digital Architecture Conference to an Inter-Agency Ping Pong Tournament, to She Says and the largest This Happened gathering to date. As an umbrella event, LDW invites anyone who wishes to include their existing event as part of London Digital Week 09, or is interested in creating an event specifically for the Week, to contact LDW via the website.
Laura Jordan Bambach, LDW vice-president, executive creative director of LBi and She Says cofounder, said: “London Digital Week is such an important development for the UK Digital industry that it is astonishing that it doesn’t already exist. LDW will provide a focal point in the calendar that will not only extend the reach of established events, such as This Happened and She Says, but it will also give vital support, both practical and promotional, for new events to take wing.”

The eighth and largest This Happened will take place at 1900, 25th September, Shoreditch Town Hall, the latest in a series of talks that focus on the story behind interaction design. The purpose of the evening is to explore current projects, and how the concepts and production process behind them can inform future work. Studio Output presents Glug which is taking place at the Queen of Hoxton on 24th September from 18:00 til late. Aimed at designers, creatives, clients and friends, Glug is for us, for everyone we know and everyone they know. Mint Digital will be running 2Screen at 18:30 on the 24th September at Hoxton Hall, which will examine how television and web can work together. Speakers at this event will include Adam Gee, Channel 4, who will talk about Surgery Live, and Gerred Blythe, managing director, Lighthouse Experience who will reveal what goes on in two screen households. She Says is aimed at addressing the male to female ratio that exists in the creative departments of most digital agencies. Taking place on 19:00 on the 23rd September, She Says looks to introduce females starting out in the digital field to industry experts who can tell them everything they want to know about advertising, where to look for info and offer one to one mentorship, all in a relaxed and friendly environment. UCL Lecturer and Interaction Designer Ruairi Glynn is holding the Digital Architecture London Conference on the 21st of September at The Building Centre, presenting a selection of London’s leading architects, artists, designers and engineers. The event also features the Digital Hinterlands exhibition from the 8th September to 2nd Oct at the Arup Phase 2 Gallery, supported by and showcasing the finest digital design and research from UCL, Westminster, The AA and the RCA over the past three years.
