ThirstDay at Cannes Lions 2013 – in association with Exponential

Posted by June 25, 2013

This was BIMA’s first year at Cannes and we dipped our toes in the water in rather spectacular fashion, holding ThirstDay networking drinks on the Exponential yacht in Cannes harbour.

Attendees were weighted towards CEOs and senior colleagues of major agencies (including SapientNitro, Poke, POSSIBLE, TMW, Weapon7 and M&C Saatchi), as well as journalists and “interesting randoms”. In the latter category, we were delighted at one point to have the managers of the BIMA Awards, Webbys and DADIs all chatting away and comparing notes.

This, for us, exemplifies the benefits of ThirstDays – bringing people together from across the industry in a relaxed, friendly environment where useful conversations and connections happen naturally.

We were also hugely impressed by the opportunities that a presence at Cannes affords our members and we’re looking at ways to add to this next year. If you also have ideas for how BIMA can help you get the most from big events like Cannes, please drop us a line at

In the meantime, here are some snaps from this year’s ThirstDay Cannes. Thanks to our generous co-hosts Exponential for making the event possible and to Audio Network for supplying the tunes.

Looks like a great trip. Kudos to the BIMA team for organising. I’d be really interested in seeing a follow up post that talked about the agency opportunities that arose from the event.

Hi Steve, we’ll look at getting a follow-up post from one of the attendees, thanks for the suggestion. In the meantime please do drop us a line at if you have specific ideas you’d like to feed into our planning for 2014, as we’re looking at present at how we can help our members get the most out of events like Cannes. Or pop along for a chat on 4 July when we have our next UK-based ThirstDays – we’d love to see you there!
