Digital agency Zone will be a UK host of the world’s largest hackathon this week.
Zone is the only Bristol agency chosen to host the week-long Festival of Code event for young people when it kicks off on Monday 27 July. The University of Bristol is the other participating UK regional centre for the hundreds of self taught coders who will be coming together to solve real world problems before showcasing their projects at the Festival finale weekend in Birmingham.
Run by Young Rewired State, the under 18’s digital community group, the annual event attracts over 1,000 young people from the UK, USA and Europe for a week of digital making fun. As well as providing a venue for participants in Bristol, Zone will be mentoring young coders.
Dominic Mills, chief technology officer, Zone, said: “We’re delighted to be supporting such a fantastic global event. Participating in the Festival is not just a fun experience for young people, it also benefits the industry by continuing to share best practice, inspire and inform the next generation of technologists so the UK remains at the forefront of the global digital community. “
